Synopsis: A reformed teenage getaway driver is dragged back into her unsavoury past when a former employer offers her an opportunity to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend.
Movie Review:
"Eeamie Meanie" is directed by Shawn Simmons and is an original heist crime action film that provides a reasonably safe and entertaining experience, highlighted by an exceptional performance from Samara Waving. Waving portrays Edie, a young woman striving to escape her criminal past, yet finds herself pulled back in to rescue her boyfriend. Her performance is compelling, emotional, and heartfelt, making her character more intriguing due to her charming personality. The film's most thrilling moments are the intense driving scenes, which are action-packed and exhilarating, making them enjoyable to watch. When the heist unfolds, it evokes a sense of watching 'Oceans 11' and 'Fast and Furious,' adding to the excitement. Karl Glusman plays John, Edie's criminal boyfriend, delivering a decent performance; however, his character is so unlikable that it made me resent him, and I found it difficult to connect with him. Additionally, there was a lack of chemistry between the two leads, which detracted from the romance. Some actors, including Andy Garcia, Randell Park, and Steve Zahn, were underutilized and had little to contribute. Marshawn Lynch portrays Perm Walters, another criminal, and he delivers a fun and eccentric performance that truly steals the show. My primary concern with this film is that, while it is an acceptable watch and attempts to emulate a Tarantino style, it ultimately feels forgettable and diluted, rendering it too safe. I am rating "Eeamie Meanie" a 3 out of 5 stars.
