Expend4bles

Synopsis:

Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on; the Expendables are the world's last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table.

Movie Review:

“Expend4bles” is directed by Scott Waugh, and it is the fourth installment in this fun old school action franchise that I have enjoyed for the first three films, but sadly this was a huge disappointment from a weak villain and action scenes to cheap looking effects comparable to a VOD release. Jason Statham who returns to play Lee Christmas was the best part of this movie. He is the only character that stood out and had some action scenes that kept me entertained. Tony Jaa plays Decha, and he was a great addition to the story with his martial artist background. Most of the older cast like Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture were wasted and had nothing to do except show up in mediocre action scenes. New characters played by Megan Fox and 50 Cent added nothing to the plot. Iko Uwais plays the villain Suarto an evil mercenary that doesn’t have any character development but did have a good fight scene with Jason Statham that was fun to watch. Andy Garcia plays Marsh the head of the C.I.A who has a predictable twist that didn’t work, and he looked bored throughout. My biggest issue with this movie was the disrespectful treatment of Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross -- he appeared in the movie for approximately 10 minutes to fly a plane. “Expend4bles” was a huge disappointment. I am giving this movie a 2/5 stars.
