Movie Review:

“Final Destination: Bloodlines," directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, marks the sixth installment in the iconic horror franchise. As someone who isn't the biggest fan of these films, I have to say this one might just be my favorite! With its fun and inventive kills, relatable characters, and a surprising dose of humor, it truly makes for an entertaining trip to the movies.

Kaitlyn Santa Juana shines as Stefani Reyes, a young woman on a mission to save her family. Her standout performance captures the essence of a traumatized yet resourceful character, making her one of my favorites in the franchise. It’s easy to root for her! Teo Briones, who plays her younger brother Charlie, also delivers a solid performance as the scared sibling, terrified of losing his family.

The supporting cast, including Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Alex Zahara, April Telek, and Andrew Tinpo Lee, provides decent performances, though their characters mainly serve as fodder for some hilariously gruesome deaths. Richard Harmon, portraying Erik Cambell-Reyes, the family's black sheep, steals the show with some of the film's funniest moments.

Brec Bassinger plays young Iris, the family’s grandmother, and she features in one of the best opening scenes I've seen in this series—intense, terrifying, and riveting all at once. I was impressed by how seamlessly they incorporated references to previous films without leaning too heavily on nostalgia.

However, once the main story kicks in and all the characters are introduced, things do become a bit predictable and generic. There were moments when the CGI felt cartoonish and over-the-top, which leaned more towards comedy than horror.

Overall, "Final Destination: Bloodlines" offers a refreshing take on a long-running horror franchise, creatively exploring the theme of family bloodlines. I’m giving it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars!
