Synopsis: A U.S. Marshal Escorts a Government witness to trial after he’s accused of getting involved with a mob boss, only to discover the pilot who is transporting them is also a hitman sent to assassinate the informant. After they subdue him, they’re forced to fly together after discovering that there are others attempting to eliminate them.
"Flight Risk," directed by Mel Gibson and starring Mark Wahlberg, was a movie I was really looking forward to. As a fan of Gibson's previous work like "Braveheart" and "Hacksaw Ridge," I had high hopes. Unfortunately, this film turned out to be one of his worst.
The movie felt like a low-budget B movie with poorly written characters and a lackluster performance from Wahlberg. His portrayal of hitman Daryl Booth was over-the-top, with cringeworthy dialogue and a terrible southern accent.
Michelle Dockery, playing U.S. Marshall Madolyn Harris, was the standout in the film. She gave a decent performance as a dedicated law enforcement officer. Topher Grace, as informant Winston, was okay but his character's humor fell flat.
The predictable plot twist involving a mole in the U.S. Marshall's office was disappointing. The CGI and visual effects were also subpar, making the flying scenes look fake.
Overall, "Flight Risk" tried to be a fun B movie but fell short due to a weak script. I would rate it 2 out of 5 stars.
