Synopsis: A brilliant but egotistical scientist brings a monstrous creature to life in a daring experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

Movie Review:

Guillermo Del Toro directs "Frankenstein," a fresh take on the classic monster movie that beautifully captures the humanity, heart, and strangeness of the original. This remake has quickly become one of my favorite films of the year. What really makes this movie shine is the outstanding performances from the entire cast, along with the immersive production design that transports you back to the 1800s. The cinematography is so captivating that I found myself glued to the screen, wishing I had seen it in a theater. Oscar Isaac portrays Victor Frankenstein, a character who is brilliant, charming, and tough, yet can also be manipulative, insane, and unlikable at times. Despite this, he delivers one of the best performances of his long career. Jacob Elordi plays the creature, and his heartbreaking portrayal of a broken, brutal, and violent monster brings a surprising depth to the role, making me think he deserves an Oscar nomination. There are some intense and gory scenes where the Creature tears apart bodies and throws people around, which adds to the gruesome yet entertaining experience. The supporting cast, including Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, and Charles Dance, also deliver solid performances, though I wish they had more screen time. Mia Goth plays Elizabeth Lavenza, the woman Victor's brother is set to marry, but he ends up falling for her. While her performance is decent, I felt she was somewhat underutilized and miscast, even though she has a more significant role towards the end, which makes for a satisfying conclusion. Overall, "Frankenstein" is a heartbreaking emotional rollercoaster filled with action, fantastic performances, and a powerful message about what truly defines a monster—the creature or the creator. I'm giving it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.
