Movie Review:

“Godzilla Vs Kong” is directed by Adam Wingard and it is the fourth film in the Monster-verse. This movie gave me everything that was promised, an epic action between two titans that is entertaining. The movie is visually stunning especially with all the big monster madness and the incredible set pieces that will blow you away if you are a fan of these films. So far, it is my favorite movie in this monster-verse since the remake of “Godzilla” in 2014. This is more than a King Kong movie, but a film focused on interesting subplots and some mythology lessons thrown in. Unfortunately, the human characters are likeable and relative to the storylines, but they are the weakest part of this film. Alexander Skarsgard plays Dr. Nathan Lind who is trying to find King Kong’s home world by teaming up with IIene Andrews played by Rebecca Hall who has been studying Kong for years. Both deliver good performances and their human sub plot is the story that I liked the most. King Kong is the heart of this film; the relationship between King Kong and Jia played by Kaylee Hottie, a little deaf girl felt like a father/daughter relationship and it was an emotional part of the film. Millie Bobby Brown reprises her role from the last film playing Madison Russell who has a sub plot of her own by investigating whatand why Godzilla is attacking and killing people. Her charm and likable personality on screen make everyone relate to her. She does teams up with her friend Josh played by the funny Julian Dennison who along with Brian Tyree Henry bring some much, needed humor to the movie. The only character that I thought was side lined was Kyle Chandler who reprises his role, playing Madison’s father Mark but he is barely in the movie. Demian Bichir plays billionaire Walter Simmons who is the main human villain, unfortunately the villain’s storyline is full of an unbelievable plan that makes no sense, but the incredible monster action scenes make up for the bad plot because they are so intense to watch. “Godzilla Vs Kong” was everything I wanted it to be -- an entertaining pop-corn film that is action packed, exciting and fun to watch. I am giving “Godzilla Vs Kong” a 4 out of 5 stars.
