Halloween Ends

Synopsis: Four years after her last encounter with masked killer Michael Myers, Laurie Strode is living with her granddaughter and trying to finish her memoir. Myers hasn't been seen since, and Laurie finally decides to liberate herself from rage and fear and embrace life. However, when a young man stands accused of murdering a boy that he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that forces Laurie to confront the evil she can't control.

Movie Review:

“Halloween Ends” is once again directed by David Gordon Green, and it is the 13th film in this long running horror franchise and is the epic conclusion to this trilogy of movies set up in the 2018 relaunch. Even though I found this one to be much better than the last one this is still an unfulfilling, confusing film that tries too much with its story and plot. There are some entertaining moments like the opening scene is creepy and unexpected, and Jamie Lee Curtis is always talented as Laurie Strode. Andi Matichak plays Laurie’s granddaughter, and she has great chemistry with Jamie Lee Curtis. They had some of the best scenes together in the movie. When Michael Myers shows up near the end, things get bloody with some great thrills and kills that were intense to watch. The final showdown between Michael and Laurie felt satisfying and was worth it. For me, this movie was a letdown full of bad story ideas like the introduction of Corey, the main character. Most of the movie is all about Corey, so it didn’t feel like a Halloween movie, but more of a romantic drama. Therefore, it sidelined the characters of Michael Myers and Laurie. As a fan I did not appreciate the direction of where it went and the disappointing conclusion to a trilogy of movies that I liked. I am giving “Halloween Ends” a 2.5/5 stars.
