Hellraiser (2022)

Synopsis: A young woman must confront the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzle box responsible for her brother's disappearance.

Movie Review:

“Hellraiser” is directed by David Bruckner, and it is the 11th film in this long running franchise which is based on the second novel. This is a creative reboot for this franchise with good scares, a great main character, and an interesting alien species from another dimension that likes to kill people. (This movie is gory and bloody and might not be for everyone.) Odessa A’Zion plays Riley a young woman who is dealing with drug addiction and looking for her missing brother at the same time. Jamie Clayton plays the new Pinhead and the main Cenobites character. I thought she was amazing as one of the best intimidating and scary villains I have seen in a horror movie recently. The CGI for the Cenobites was fantastic -- they looked realistically terrifying. My biggest issue with this movie is the supporting human characters. They were not interesting, and they lacked connection. Also, I was not a fan of the conclusion. It felt rushed and ended abruptly. But this is a fun horror movie for Halloween that delivered a fresh reboot different than the other “Hellraiser” films. I am giving ‘Hellraiser (2022) a 3.5/5 stars.
