Movie Review:

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is directed by James Mangold, and it is the 5th and final movie in the popular iconic franchise. This film is filled with incredible classic moments that make it feel like a classic ‘Indiana Jones’ movie. Harrison Ford is the best thing in this move as he delivers an emotional performance worth seeing. Although he is older, crankier, and wiser, he is still the same Indiana Jones who can fight and jump to escape his enemies. My favorite scene occurs in the first 15 minutes and takes place in 1944 at the end of World War II featuring a younger Indiana Jones -- it was exciting, and action packed with amazing CGI. Phoebe Walter-Bridge plays Helena Shaw his goddaughter who is sarcastic and unlikeable, but she does get better by the end of the movie. And she and Harrison Ford have great on-screen chemistry which makes the story work. Mads Mikkelsen plays the Nazi turned NASA Scientist Jugen Voller who is an evil villain with an intriguing plot. I am a big fan of Boyd Holbrook, but I wasn’t a big fan of his character named Klaber who is a one note henchman that shoots first and ask questions later; I thought his character was unnecessary. There were some cameos and fan favorite characters from the franchise that felt right and made sense for the story. Newcomer Ethann Isdore plays Teddy a kid that tags along for the adventure with Indy and Helena, and he was a nice addition to the movie. I thought Antonio Banderas was wasted which was disappointing. My biggest issues with this movie were… it is way too long, and the third act was silly and unbelievable. But I loved the emotional and satisfying ending to the Indiana Jones character that so many fans love. I am giving “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” a 4/5 stars.
