Movie Review:
"Last Breath," directed by Alex Parkinson, is based on the incredible true story of three brave deep-sea divers who save one of their own trapped in the deep ocean. It is a riveting, intense, and remarkable true story that I found entertaining to watch, with a great performance by Woody Harrelson. Harrelson plays Duncan Allcok, a seasoned deep-sea diver, who gives one of his best performances in a while. He shows empathy, bravery, and likability, making him a compelling character. Simu Liu plays David, another deep-sea diver, who also gives a great performance as a hot-headed character who thinks he's the best at everything. Finn Cole steals the show as Chris Lemons, the real-life diver who gets stranded under the sea. His compelling backstory with his loving wife and his likable character make you care about him when the tragic event occurs.
The best part of the movie was the incredible groundbreaking underwater scenes that were breathtaking and felt real and riveting. Cliff Curtis, as Captain Andre Jenson, gives a decent performance but felt underutilized given his remarkable talent. My biggest issue was that the movie felt generic towards the end, resembling typical disaster movies based on true stories. However, overall, "Last Breath" was still a good, intense, thrilling movie that I enjoyed. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.
