Movie Review:

“Lightyear” is the 26th Pixar film and is based on the “Toy Story” character Buzz Lightyear telling the actual story of the space ranger and his origins. Even though I thought this is not the best Pixar movie, it is an entertaining science fiction movie with fun action scenes. The first 30-45 minutes of this movie is a touching and emotional story build up that makes you care about Buzz Lightyear and is the reason Pixar is so popular with kids. Chris Evans voices Buzz and he is perfect as this charming character who has some memorable quotable lines and a good story arc. I loved the rag tag group of space rangers that he recruits like Izzy, Mo, and Darby all voiced by talented people like Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, and Dale Soules. The character who stole the show was Sox (voiced by Peter Sohn) a robot cat that is Buzz’s companion. He delivers the best dialogue in the film and has some of the best moments of the movie. Unfortunately, the second and third acts did not live up to the first; they just felt predictable. Also, Zorg voiced by James Brolin an intergalactic robot who is Buzz’s arc nemesis was a weak villain, and the twist with this character was confusing. But this is still a fun space adventure animation movie you can enjoy with your family. I am giving “Lightyear” 3.5/5 stars.
