Movie Review:
"Now You See Me: Now You Don’t" is directed by Ruben Fleischer and is the third installment in this action-packed heist franchise. It follows the group of magicians known as the Four Horsemen, who make their return after a decade. This film is an entertaining and enjoyable heist flick, featuring some nice twists and turns that elevate it above the second movie. Sure, there are some significant plot holes and a lack of logic regarding how these characters execute their magic tricks. However, the real draw of these films is the talented cast they assemble. Jesse Eisenberg reprises his role as J. Daniel Atlas, the leader of the Four Horsemen. He’s sly, charming, and witty, with a quirky sense of humor, even though he essentially plays the same character with his complex personality. Dave Franco (Jack Wilder), Isla Fisher (Henley Reeves), and Woody Harrelson (Merritt McKinney) return to their roles from the previous films, and once again, they are all charming, funny, and have fantastic chemistry that makes them a great team of thieves. New cast members Ariana Greenblatt (June), Justice Smith (Charlie), and Dominic Sessa (Bosco) portray three new magicians who really shine in this film. They are funny, charming, and clever, making their storylines engaging and leaving me eager to see what’s next for them in the franchise. The action scenes are creative and stylish, adding to the fun. The legendary Morgan Freeman returns as Thaddeus, the oldest Horseman, but unfortunately, he feels underutilized, merely appearing in a pointless cameo. My biggest gripe with the movie is the villain, played by Rosamund Pike as Veronika Vander, the powerful mogul leading an international crime syndicate. While I’m a fan of hers and can see she enjoyed playing this over-the-top character, her exaggerated accent and silly plan made her role feel laughable. Overall, "Now You See Me: Now You Don’t" is a silly yet enjoyable heist movie with a fantastic cast. I am giving it a 3.5/5 stars.
