Obsession

Synopsis: After breaking the mysterious "One Wish Willow" to win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic gets exactly what he asked for. However, he soon discovers that some desires come at a dark and sinister price. 

Movie Review: 

Curry Barker directs "Obsession," an original horror film that's unsettling, scary, funny, and shocking. Inde Navarette delivers a star-making performance that will linger in your mind long after the credits roll. Michael Johnston plays Bear, a kind-hearted young man infatuated with Nikki. He portrays this hopeless romantic well, trying to be nice, but his innocent crush leads him to make mistakes, turning him into the story's villain, even though I found him relatable at first. Inde Navarrette shines as Nikki, a young woman who becomes obsessed with Bear after being influenced by a wish from Willow. Her transformation from normal to crazy, unhinged, and displaying nonstop red flags makes every scene uncomfortable yet compelling, making her performance truly award-worthy. I appreciated how Curry Barker built suspense with specific camera angles that created a sense of unease in every scene. Cooper Tomlinson, as Ian, Bear's best friend, also stood out, providing much of the film's humor as the fun-loving party guy. Megan Lawless gives a notable performance as Sarah, the woman who has a crush on Bear and whose jealousy stirs up trouble. The third act is chaotic, wild, and satisfying, making this one of the best horror films I've seen in a long time. There are a few logical inconsistencies and character choices that might make some unlikable, but overall, this is one of my favorite movies of the year. I'm giving "Obsession" a solid 4.5/5 stars.
