Pizza Movie

Synopsis: A Shy College Student and his reckless roommate set out on a simple mission to grab pizza, but after a strange dose of a mind-bending experimental drug, they’re thrust into a chaotic night of absurd encounters, wild hallucinations, and unexpected revelations that could change their lives forever. 

Movie Review: 

"Pizza Movie" is directed by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, and it's an original stoner comedy that's crazy, absurd, and weird, yet funny and heartfelt. It was a blast to watch, thanks to the two fantastic lead performances. Gaten Matarazzo plays Jack, a nerdy college student who's the life of the party, eager to drink, party, and do drugs. He's hilarious, charming, and perfectly cast for this role. His friend Montgomery, played by Sean Giambrone, is his complete opposite—shy, awkward, and super nerdy. But he's so full of heart and likable that it's a joy to see him on screen. Lulu Wilson portrays Lizzy, the former friend of Jack and Montgomery, who ditched them for the popular crowd. Although she starts off unlikable, her charm, charisma, and over-the-top comedy eventually win you over, and she delivers a solid performance as a college kid just trying to fit in. Peyton Elizabeth Lee plays Ashley, the girl Montgomery has a crush on. Her performance is okay, but she doesn't have much to do, and the silly, absurd scenes she’s in left me scratching my head. Jack Martin plays Blake, the villainous RA with a ridiculous plan that might just be the worst storyline in the movie. The silliness and weirdness made it feel like an unfunny SNL sketch. However, the film does a great job showcasing the five stages of the drug experience, from the vibrant colors to the absurd moments and over-the-top comedy, which were some of my favorite parts. My main issue with the movie is that it felt predictable and generic, resembling many other coming-of-age college comedies that have come before. Overall, "Pizza Movie" is a fun, unhinged, and absurd drug comedy that, while cliché, is still an enjoyable time. I’d rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
