Plane

Synopsis:

Pilot Brodie Torrance saves passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island -- only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When dangerous rebels take most of the passengers hostage, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare, an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI.

Movie Review:

“Plane” is directed by Jean-Francois Richet, and it is a throwback to the late 90s action films. This movie is fun, exciting, and action-packed, and it was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. Gerard Butler plays, an older ex-marine turned pilot Brodie Torrance. He is a flawed but loving dad who fights to survive and return to his family. He is the most complex character of the movie. Mike Colter plays an accused murderer Louis Gaspare who teams up with Brodie. Colter has some incredible action scenes that are bloody and intense throughout the movie. However, there are some issues with this film. The villain was a one note cliché separatist who was evil but an underdeveloped character. The storyline gets too predictable by the end of the movie. Most of the supporting cast are wasted like Danielle Pineda, Paul Ben-Victor, and Tony Goldwyn -- their storylines were boring. Finally, the last act was so outrages and crazy that it gets unrealistic. “Plane” was still an enjoyable thrill ride from start to finish. I am giving “Plane” a 3.5/5 stars.
