Ready or Not 2: Here I come

Synopsis: After surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace discovers she's reached the next level of the nightmarish game, and this time with her estranged sister, Faith, by her side. To survive, Grace must keep Faith alive and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are also hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins will rule it all. 

Movie Review: 

"Ready or Not 2: Here I Come" is once again directed by the duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as "Radio Silence." They returned to create another film following the unfortunate events of the 2019 horror action flick. Like many sequels, they opted to enlarge the cast, broaden the world, deepen the lore, and amp up the blood and gore that made the first installment so enjoyable. This movie is, once again, a fun and entertaining ride.

Samara Weaving reprises her role as Grace MacCulley, the young bride who fought for her life and is now once again haunted by four powerful families. She shines in this film, showcasing her fearlessness and bravery as she outsmarts these wealthy characters, making her a well-crafted character who consistently steals the spotlight.

They introduced a sisterly dynamic with Faith, played by Kathryn Newton, who I absolutely adore. She brings a tough-love attitude and a sarcastic sense of humor, making her a fantastic addition to this over-the-top sequel. While I enjoyed the sisterly bond, which was central to the film, their constant discussions about their past and frequent arguments became a bit tiresome, causing the pacing to feel uneven.

Two exciting new characters are introduced: Sarah Michelle Gellar as Ursula Danforth and Shawn Hatosy as Titus Danforth, who are twins and the film's villains. They both deliver strong performances, embodying menacing, wealthy, and despicable characters that you love to hate. It was also a treat to see Elijah Wood as the lawyer, who brings a funny, silly, and exaggerated charm that makes him super likable.

The supporting cast, including David Cronenberg, Dan Beirne, Olivia Cheng, Varen Saranga, and Nestor Carbonell, all deliver solid performances, portraying spoiled rich individuals who come off as bubbly, clumsy, and foolish, giving the film a comedic sketch vibe at times. My main concern with this movie, like many sequels, is that it feels too similar to the original, and it goes a bit overboard, which doesn’t necessarily make it better. Nevertheless, it remains an enjoyable, blood-soaked experience with two great lead performances . I am giving “Ready or Not 2: Here I come a 3.5/5 stars.
