Movie Review::
"Rebel Moon- Part Two: The Scargiver" is directed once again by Zack Snyder and is the second part of his science fiction epic. While it tries to be original, it definitely takes inspiration from movies like "Star Wars." Unfortunately, just like the first movie, I didn't really enjoy this one either.
The standout performances in this movie come from Sofia Boutella as Kora, a rebel with a tragic past who fights against the motherworld. She's strong, independent, and has some of the best fight scenes in the movie. Djimon Hounsou also shines as Titus, a gladiator and former soldier with an interesting backstory that adds depth to the film.
The third act is where the movie really picks up, with tons of exciting action that reminded me of "The Magnificent Seven." However, my biggest issue with the film is the first hour, which is filled with uninteresting characters, boring backstories, cringe-worthy dialogue, and a cheesy Nazi villain played by Ed Skerin.
The action scenes are entertaining, but there are too many slow-motion shots that make them look staged and fake. Overall, "Rebel Moon- Part Two: The Scargiver" doesn't really have a satisfying payoff and seems to just be setting up for another movie that I'm not sure I want to watch.
As a fan of Zack Snyder, I think he should consider moving on to something new. I would give "Rebel Moon- Part Two: The Scargiver"
a 2/5 stars.
