Road House

Synopsis: Former UFC fighter Dalton lands a gig as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon realizes that this supposed paradise has a dark side.

Movie Review:

"Road House," directed by Doug Liman, is a remake of the 1989 classic of the same name. I didn't grow up with the original film, but I can see why people love it. The remake is an enjoyable action movie with great fight scenes, funny dialogue, and that fun 80's cheesy vibe like the original.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Elwood Dalton, an Ex-UFC Fighter, and he absolutely shines in this role. He brings charm, charisma, and you truly believe he's the toughest guy in the room. Plus, he delivers some of the best one-liners and insults in the whole movie.

Daniela Melchior plays Ellie, a nurse and Dalton's love interest. She has good chemistry with Gyllenhaal, but I felt her storyline about her corrupt cop dad was a bit wasted.

Jessica Williams plays Frankie, the manager of the Road House, and she adds some funny and sensitive moments to the film.

Conor McGregor plays Knox, one of the bad guys, and he's an experienced fighter you don't want to mess with. His fights with Gyllenhaal in the movie are intense and brutal, making for an amazing third act. However, McGregor's acting skills fall a bit short, and his over-the-top delivery of cheesy dialogue made me cringe. The main villain, Ben Brandt (Billy Magnussen), is an evil rich businessman with a ridiculous plan to get rid of the Road House, which just made the movie feel dumber.

Overall, "Road House" is an enjoyable remake that tries something new while still capturing what made the original special. I'd give it 3.5/5 stars.
