Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Synopsis:

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.

Movie Review:

After the surprise 2018 hit, David F. Sandberg is back to direct “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and this film is a fun sequel. Once again Zachary Levi plays Shazam the alter ego of child Billy Batson who struggles to transition from child to adult and all the issues regarding his life and superpowers. Asher Angle returns as Billy Batson, and he has a unique relationship with all his adopted brothers and sisters that is the heart of the movie. The person who steals the show is Jack Dylan Grazer who plays Freddy Billy’s best friend and foster brother, and he has a sarcastic humor that adds to the story in a hilarious way. He does have a romantic connection with newcomer Rachel Zegler (an anti-hero who is conflicted) who plays one of the daughters of Atlas Anthea and she was a great addition to the movie. There were some great action sequences near the end of the movie that were exciting to watch and made a fun popcorn movie worth seeing. As much I am a huge fan of both Helen Mirren and Lucy Lui, they were weak and forgettable villains that remind me of the typical predictable villains from comic book movies. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” has a lot of flaws, but it still an entertaining movie for all. I am giving Shazam! Fury of the Gods” a 3.5/5 stars.
