She Said

Synopsis: The New York Times journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor publish a report that exposes sexual abuse allegations against powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The shocking story also serves as a launching pad for the #MeToo movement, shattering decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault and harassment.

Movie Review:

“She Said” is directed by Maria Schrader, and it is based on the true story of the sexual and abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein that shocked the world. This is a riveting and brutally honest account of sexual abuse portrayed by a group of talented actors. Zoe Kazan plays Jodie Kantor a journalist for the New York times who doesn’t give up on this important story of sexual harassment at the workplace. Carey Mulligan plays Megan Twohey another reporter who teams up with Jodie to take down Weinstein. She and Kazan play strong, determined women looking for the truth, and they both give powerful performances as these characters. Some of the most heart-breaking scenes are the stories that the victims tell these two journalists. The supporting cast of Andre Braugher and Patricia Clarkson who play the other New York Times journalists added some effective and intensive scenes to the film. This movie doesn’t pull any punches and it is hard to watch sometimes because of the subject matter, and it runs a little too long. But this is a well written and acted drama that is one of my favorites of the year. I am giving “She Said” 4.5/5 stars.
