Movie Review:

"Smile 2" is once again directed by Parker Finn, serving as the sequel to the highly successful 2022 film. Just like its predecessor, this movie delivers a well-crafted, intense, and scary experience, with an outstanding performance by Naomi Scott. Scott portrays Skye Riley, a globally successful pop star, with an unhinged, energetic, funny, and charming portrayal that stands out as one of the best performances in a horror film this year. Her character's troubled past as a former drug addict adds depth and relatability to the story.

The opening scene is incredible, setting the tone for the movie and connecting it seamlessly to the first installment. Classic jump scares and eerie imagery contribute to the overall horror of the film. Rosemarie Dewitt shines as Elizabeth Riley, Skye's manager and mother, portraying a character torn between caring for her daughter and pushing her to her limits.

The supporting cast, including Lukas Gage, Ray Nicholson, Kyle Gallner, Dylan Gelula, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Peter Jacobson, all deliver solid performances, although they could have been given more to do in the movie. The film successfully expands on the lore and mythology introduced in the first movie, sparking curiosity about potential sequels in the future.

While there are moments of humor and cheesiness that may feel out of place, overall, "Smile 2" offers an enjoyable and intense viewing experience, complete with jump scares and Scott's standout performance. However, the movie falls short in its lack of originality, feeling like a copy-and-paste of its predecessor. The ending leaves many unanswered questions, leaving the viewer feeling confused and unsatisfied.

Despite its flaws, "Smile 2" remains a fun and entertaining watch, earning a rating of 3.5/5 stars.
