Spencer

Synopsis: The marriage between Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the queen's estate. There's eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game, but this year, things will be profoundly different.

Movie Review:

“Spencer” is directed by Pablo Larrain, and it is a Historical Bio pic of Princess Diana. The film follows just three days in her life where she deals with her mental illness and her immaturity towards the royal family. The movie doesn’t pull any punches about her problems and her character is portrayed as unlikeable and sometimes just not a nice person. Kristen Stewart carries this movie as Princess Diana; she literally disappears in this role. I loved the look of the movie. They did a great job making you feel like you are back in the early 90’s with the costumes and make up. I thought most of the supporting actors like Jack Farthing, Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall and Sean Harris were used well. Princess Diana’s mental breakdowns and self-harm scenes make the film seem like a psychological horror film at times. The movie also has pacing issues and it is slow. If you enjoy the royal family then you will love this movie. I am giving “Spencer” a 3.5/5 stars.
