Star War: The Mandalorian and Grogu

Synopsis: The evil Empire has fallen but Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they enlist the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu. 

Movie Review: 

"Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" is directed by Jon Favreau. This marks the 13th Star Wars film and the first one in 7 years since "The Rise of Skywalker." After three seasons of The Mandalorian, they’ve released this special 2-hour movie, which is a fun sci-fi flick packed with classic Star Wars moments, action, monsters, and adorable baby Yoda scenes that you’ll love. However, the story is pretty standard and dull, making it a bit forgettable. Pedro Pascal reprises his role as Din Djarin, also known as The Mandalorian, who is now working for the New Republic. He’s strong, wise, and has impressive fighting skills, making him one of the standout new characters in this era of Star Wars. Even though he takes off his mask just once, he delivers a solid performance, even if most of the time you only hear his voice. His bond with his son Grogu remains the heart and soul of the movie; it’s sweet and Grogu once again steals the spotlight with his cuteness and funny moments that really work for me. The film kicks off with classic action scenes that feel like traditional Star Wars, featuring the Empire, Walkers, and countless Stormtroopers meeting their end, which was a blast to watch—definitely my favorite part of the movie. However, after that lengthy sequence, I found the rest of the story about the Hunts to be frustrating, silly, dull, and boring, which made me lose interest in that plotline. I did enjoy Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hunt; he did a great job with the material he was given as this massive, strong Hunt who assists Din on his journey, which I appreciated. Sigourney Weaver, a legend and one of my favorites, plays Colonel Ward, part of the New Republic. She’s fine in the movie, but honestly, she was underutilized, having little to do other than deliver her lines and pilot an X-wing. Despite some entertaining action sequences, it does get a bit tiresome with minimal dialogue, just to transition from one action scene to the next, which felt repetitive. "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" is a fun ride, but it could have been so much more I am giving it a 3.5/5 stars.
