Synopsis: In an effort to land the guy she's been pining after since grade school, Abby hires a local stripper named Santa Monica to teach her everything she needs to know about confidence and sex.

"Summer of '69" is the directorial debut of Jillian Bell, and it's a hilarious original comedy that feels like it could have been made in the 80s. The movie follows high school senior Abby Flores, played by newcomer Sam Morelos, who brings charm and charisma to her awkward and nerdy character. Chloe Fineman steals the show as Santa Monica, a stripper who forms a sisterly bond with Abby, adding heart and emotion to the film.

The chemistry between the characters is fantastic, and the jokes are funny and over-the-top, making for a raunchy and entertaining watch. The supporting cast, including Liza Koshy, Matt Cornett, Natalie Morales, and Paula Pell, all deliver fun and likable performances.

Unfortunately, Charlie Day's portrayal of the villain, Rick Richards, falls flat, coming off as cheesy and annoying. The movie also gets a bit silly and unrealistic towards the end, but overall, "Summer of '69" is a charming and funny throwback to 80s comedies. While it may feel familiar, it's still a good time for a laugh. I'd give it 3.5/5 stars.
