Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Synopsis: Having thwarted Bowser's previous plot to marry Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi now face a fresh threat in Bowser Jr., who is determined to liberate his father from captivity and restore the family legacy. Alongside companions new and old, the brothers travel across the stars to stop the young heir's crusade. 

Movie Review: 

“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" is once again directed by the duo Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. This sequel follows the 2023 hit that was a fun, animated adventure filled with heart and action for Mario fans. However, unlike its predecessor, this installment feels chaotic and messy, lacking the emotional depth that made the first one enjoyable. What stands out is the stunning animation, vibrant and colorful, resembling a beautiful painting that was a delight to watch on the big screen. Princess Peach, voiced by the talented Anya Taylor Joy, shines in this film, especially as we learn about her past with her sister, making her the most intriguing character. Jack Black returns as Bowser, the conflicted villain who wants to change; he’s fantastic, bringing humor and menace to the role, and his relationship with Bowser Jr., played by Benny Safdie, is a highlight of the story. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day reprise their roles as Mario and Luigi, and while they do fine with what they have, the crowded cast sidelines them, making them less interesting. New characters like Yoshi (Donald Glover), Fox McCloud (Glenn Powell), and Rosalina (Brie Larson) are fun to see but feel more like brief cameos without much impact. The third act is chaotic, filled with action and a silly villain plot that feels repetitive, reminiscent of better films. My biggest issue with this movie is the lack of a coherent story; it felt messy and disjointed, leaving me confused about what was happening. Overall, "Super Mario Galaxy the Movie" is a disappointing experience with a chaotic narrative full of fan service, making it dull and boring. I’m giving it a 2.5 out of 5 stars.
