Movie Review:

"Superman," directed by James Gunn, marks the exciting beginning of the new DCU cinematic universe. It brilliantly brings a hopeful and optimistic take on Superman that is sure to inspire everyone who sees it. This film is not just a superhero flick; it’s a fun, entertaining summer blockbuster that rekindled my childhood love for the character.

David Corenswet shines as Superman, delivering a breakout performance that captures the essence of a caring, loving, and hopeful hero. His charismatic screen presence breathes new life into the character, making him incredibly likable. The chemistry between him and Lois Lane, played by the talented Rachel Brosnahan, is nothing short of amazing. Brosnahan embodies the perfect Lois Lane—smart, beautiful, and a talented reporter with an ambitious drive that makes her stand out. Their romance feels genuine, and you can really sense the love between them.

We also get introduced to the Justice Gang, featuring Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mr. Terrific (Eli Gathegi). Each of them brings something special to the film, from thrilling action scenes to witty banter that adds a lighthearted touch without overshadowing Superman’s story.

Nicholas Hoult delivers a fantastic performance as Lex Luthor, portraying him as a smart and terrifying villain who despises Superman and will stop at nothing to defeat him. He might just be my favorite Lex Luthor on screen!

What I loved most about this film is how it feels like a comic book come to life, with fast-paced action, clever humor, and a direction that keeps it all fun to watch. I do wish some side characters, like the Daily Planet staff, had more to do, and at times the plot felt a bit bloated and convoluted. However, this movie still offers a powerful message about the impact of kindness.

Overall, I’m giving "Superman" a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.
