Synopsis: Whitney Wolfe Herd breaks into the male-dominated tech industry by launching two innovative dating apps, making her the world's youngest self-made female billionaire.

Movie review:

"Swiped," directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, is inspired by the true story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, one of the co-founders of the dating platform Tinder. She later established Bubble, becoming one of the youngest self-made billionaires in history. Despite featuring commendable performances and inspiring themes, the film ultimately presents a generic and mediocre biopic. Lily James portrays the self-made billionaire Whitney, and she is undoubtedly the highlight of the film, effectively embodying the essence, personality, and courage of someone who faced workplace harassment, evoking sympathy for her character. The film does an excellent job of depicting some of the darker moments in her life prior to her rise as a billionaire. Dan Stevens plays Andrey, the individual who assisted her in creating the dating site Bubble, delivering a unique and eccentric performance with an exaggerated accent that distinguishes his character from the rest. The supporting cast, including Myha’la, Jackson White, Yann Colette, and Ian Colette, also deliver commendable performances. However, the portrayal of numerous toxic male characters was frustrating and contributed to one of my main criticisms of the film. My most significant concern arises during the segments depicting her journey with Bubble, where her rapid success is summarized in a swift montage, leading to an abrupt conclusion that feels anticlimactic. "Swiped" possesses the potential to be a significant film addressing workplace harassment, yet it ultimately falls into the realm of a predictable biopic, despite the outstanding performance by Lily James. I rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
