Movie Review:

"The Accountant 2" is directed once again by Gavin O'Connor, returning for the sequel to the underrated 2016 movie. This sequel is a vast improvement over the original, with better action scenes, a more compelling villain, and a stronger storyline that focuses more on the brother relationship between Jon Bernthal and Ben Affleck.

Ben Affleck reprises his role as Christian Wolff, the Accountant who is on the spectrum but is super smart and a skilled assassin. His performance is great, with his silly tendencies and smart wit making his character feel realistic and compelling. Jon Bernthal also returns, playing Christian's brother Brax, who is a professional assassin with a quick hot head. Bernthal steals the show with his funny, witty, and sarcastic performance, adding some of the funniest scenes in the movie.

The chemistry between Brax and Christian is the best part of the movie, making it feel like a buddy cop film and much more entertaining than the first installment. The action scenes are fast-paced, intense, and incredibly choreographed, making them a blast to watch. Cynthia Addai-Robinson returns as treasury Agent Marybeth Medina, giving a decent performance, but her storyline is the weakest in the movie as she is the least interesting character.

The main storyline involving networks of assassins and the killing of Ray King (J.K. Simmons) is much better, but it does get convoluted and messy at times, with some loose ends left unresolved. Despite this, the incredible action scenes, particularly the third act shootout in Mexico, and the focus on the brother relationship make "The Accountant 2" a better film than the first. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.
