The Crow

Synopsis: Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Draven returns to seek bloody revenge against the killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

Movie Review:

"The Crow" directed by Rupert Sanders is a remake of the classic 1994 film. Unfortunately, this version falls flat and fails to capture the magic of the original. The only redeeming quality is the action-packed third act set at an opera, where Eric's dynamic killing spree is entertaining to watch.

Bill Skarsgard does a decent job portraying a flawed, drug-addicted version of Eric, but his romance with Shelly feels forced and lacks chemistry. FKA Twigs as Shelly gives an okay performance, but her character feels underdeveloped and serves mainly as a plot device.

The film spends too much time focusing on the uninteresting romance and not enough on the supernatural elements that make "The Crow" unique. Most of the movie consists of Eric wandering the streets looking depressed, which becomes tiresome quickly.

Danny Huston's portrayal of Vincent Roeg, a supernatural mob boss, is lackluster and fails to bring anything new to the table. The action sequences, aside from the third act, lack excitement and style, making the film feel generic.

Overall, "The Crow" is a dull and uninspired remake that fails to live up to the original. It's one of the worst films I've seen this year, and I would give it a 2/5 stars.
