Synopsis: A happily engaged couple get put to the test when an unexpected revelation sends their wedding week off the rails.

Movie Review: 

"The Drama" is directed by Kristoffer Borgli, and it's an original dark comedy that totally surprised me. It’s uncomfortable in a satirical way, making it super relatable and funny, leaving you pondering what you just saw after leaving the theater. The standout elements of the movie are definitely the amazing performances by Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. Zendaya portrays Emma Harwood, a socially awkward yet charming young woman who does some quirky things and harbors a terrible secret that makes her fiancé question everything. Despite this, she’s so likable and funny, making her a captivating character. Robert Pattinson plays her future husband, Charlie Thompson, delivering a nerdy, awkward, and silly performance that makes him equally likable and relatable. The chemistry between these two actors is incredible, feeling both realistic and toxic at the same time, even though I found myself rooting for them to be together. Alana Haim plays Rachel, Emma’s best friend, and while she gives a solid performance, her character is often annoying, selfish, and hypocritical, which made me dislike her whenever she appeared on screen. Mamoudou Athie plays Mike, Rachel’s husband and Charlie’s best friend, and he delivers a fantastic, funny performance as the peacemaker among the group, making him a relatable character. The third act, featuring the wedding, is like watching a car crash that you can’t look away from; it’s cringeworthy and awkward, with some of the best moments of the year so far. This movie might not be for everyone, especially with its messaging and Emma’s past actions that could turn some viewers away. However, it’s still a well-made, well-acted rom-com that I enjoyed, and I’m giving "The Drama" 4 out of 5 stars.
