Synopsis: Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down? 

Movie Review: 

"The Invite" is directed by Olivia Wilde and is inspired by the Spanish comedy film "The People Upstairs." However, she has transformed this story into something funny, touching, relatable, and heartfelt, making it one of the best and funniest films I've seen this year. What really makes this movie shine is the brilliant, clever, and hilarious script filled with quirky dialogue that creates awkward yet funny moments, setting it apart from other comedies this year. The performances from all four leads were outstanding as well. While Olivia Wilde does an amazing job directing, she also stars as Angela, a hardworking housewife who cares too much and tends to be uptight. Her emotional and breathtaking performance can sometimes make you feel frustrated with her character due to her selfishness. Seth Rogen plays Joe, Angela's husband, delivering a career-defining performance as an unhappy man who despises his life. He delivers some of the funniest and most offensive lines that might make you feel a bit uncomfortable laughing, but his charm keeps him likable. Penelope Cruz portrays Pina, a charming and attractive character who expresses herself in a sexual manner, making her one of my favorites in the film. Edward Norton plays Hawk, Pina's boyfriend, and he brings a confident and charming performance that is both compelling and hilarious, keeping me laughing at his antics. Even though the movie is set in a single location, Olivia Wilde keeps it engaging with witty dialogue, strong acting, and the silly, bizarre events that make the runtime fly by. "The Invite" is a delightful, funny, and heartfelt exploration of relationships, making it one of my top movies this year. I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
