The Lost City

Synopsis: Reclusive author Loretta Sage writes about exotic places in her popular adventure novels that feature a handsome cover model named Alan. While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to an ancient city's lost treasure from her latest story. Determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her.

Movie Review:

“The Lost City” is directed by the Nee brothers, and it is the new Rom-Com that is a throwback to the old action-adventure film of the 80s classic “Romancing the Stone”. This is a funny and entertaining movie with two great leads. Sandra Bullock plays struggling author Loretta Sage who has writer’s block. She is a funny and likeable but extremely complex character. Channing Tatum plays Alan a cover model who has a crush on Loretta and attempts to rescue her. Alan is an interesting character who is charming and smart. Bullock and Tatum have great chemistry and it shows with the hilarious and outrageous action scenes that are fun to watch. Brad Pitt steals the show as the witty and down to earth Jack Trainer a former black ops soldier who helps Alan handle the kidnapping. Daniel Radcliffe plays the villain Fairfax who plays a spoiled rich guy that wants the treasure. He is not a compelling character and is a boring presence in the movie. Some of the supporting characters were wasted and weren’t that funny. There were some story plot points that were predictable and little generic, but I still enjoyed this movie. I am giving “The Lost City” a 3.5/5 stars.
