The Matrix Resurrections

Synopsis: To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, Mr. Anderson, aka Neo, will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. If he's learned anything, it's that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of -- or into -- the Matrix. Neo already knows what he must do, but what he doesn't yet know is that the Matrix is stronger, more secure and far more dangerous than ever before.

Movie Review:

“The Matrix Resurrections” is once again directed by Lana Wachowski and is the long awaited fourth film in the franchise. Although the film is filled with lots of useless information that doesn’t go anywhere and a plot that is sometimes hard to follow, I enjoyed this one more than the second and third movies. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss return to play Neo and Trinity and again their on-screen chemistry produces an incredible love story. They are the best things in this film. Some new characters are introduced like Bugs played by Jessica Henwick who is charismatic and energetic in her exciting action scenes. There are some new characters that weren’t developed enough for you to care about them. I did like Jonathan Groff who plays the new Agent Smith. He and Neo had a fun dynamic and best fight scene in the entire movie. There were some familiar faces that returned like Jada Pinkett Smith (Niobe). The action scenes were entertaining enough, and they were fun to watch. The biggest problems that I had with this movie were that it felt like a comedy at times which made the tone feel off and ridiculous. The third act was sloppy and disappointing; just like the first film. It tries too hard to be nostalgic -- sometimes it works but for a lot of the movie it doesn’t. And I think that it has some great ideas in it, but the execution of them was a bit messy. However, it was still entertaining. I am giving “The Matrix Resurrections” a 3/5 out of 5 stars.
