Movie Review:
“Naked The Gun,” directed by Akiva Schaffer, is the fourth installment in a slapstick comedy series that aims to revive a genre that’s been missing for quite some time. I’m thrilled to say it’s absolutely hysterical, featuring some of the most gut-wrenchingly funny scenes I’ve seen in a comedy in ages. Plus, it captures that classic '80s action movie vibe perfectly.
What really makes this film shine is the casting of Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the original films' main character. Neeson nails the role with his signature deadpan humor, delivering lines that are both absurd and laugh-out-loud funny. His tough-guy persona adds an extra layer of hilarity, making this one of the funniest performances of his career.
Pamela Anderson plays Beth Davenport, the love interest, and she truly understands the assignment. She brings a delightful mix of humor and charm, creating fantastic romantic chemistry with Neeson that made me genuinely invested in their relationship. Every scene with them had me in stitches!
Paul Walter Hauser shines as Captain Ed Hocken Jr., Frank’s partner. He delivers an amazing performance as the straight man of the film, balancing the chaos around him with his own brand of humor. The first two acts are packed with some of the most quick-witted and laughable moments I’ve seen all year, from the clever dialogue to the hilarious background antics.
Danny Huston is a standout as the villain, Richard Care, an over-the-top evil CEO. His exaggerated performance makes him a perfect fit for this comedic franchise. However, I did wish some of the side characters, like Liza Koshy’s Detective Barns, had more to do. I loved her character, but she felt a bit underutilized.
While I absolutely loved this movie, the third act does slow down a bit and isn’t quite as funny as the first two. Still, it’s a wild ride that had me laughing from start to finish.
“The Naked Gun” is a hilarious, witty and hysterical throwback to the spoof movies and a great continuation of this franchise I am giving it a 4/5 stars.
