The Suicide Squad

Synopsis: The government sends the most dangerous supervillains in the world -- Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Harley Quinn and others -- to the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Armed with high-tech weapons, they trek through the dangerous jungle on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Col. Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave.

Movie Review:

“The Suicide Squad” is directed by James Gunn and it is the 11th DCUE film. This film is action packed full of danger, destruction, and emotions, and it is my favorite movie of the summer. James Gunn chose weird secondary characters that weren’t well known like Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher 2 and they seem to make this movie work. My favorite 3three characters are Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), BloodSport (Idris Elba) and Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior). Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn and gives her best performance; she was funny, rebellious, and psychotic. She also has some standout action scenes that are exciting to watch but extremely gory. Bloodsport played by Idris Elba is an assassin with a mission to protect his daughter. His character is complex and well written. Ratcatcher 2 played by Daniela Melchior is the heart and soul of this movie. Her character is loving and innocent and her relationships with King Shark and Bloodsport are emotional and heart wrenching. The actor that really impressed me was John Cena who plays Peacemaker – I believe it was his best acting he has done in his entire career. This movie had a lot of fun twists but also some surprising deaths that I did not expect, especially some main characters that I didn’t see coming. The only nitpick that I have with the movie is that the villains President Silvio (Juan Diego Botto) and General Mateo Suarez (Joaquin Cosio) were weak and one dimensional and were only there to move the plot along. “The Suicide Squad” is an action packed and entertaining movie. I am giving “The Suicide Squad” a 4.5/5 stars.
