Movie review:
"Thunderbolts*" is directed by Jake Schreier and is the 36th film in the MCU. It marks a comeback for the franchise, delving into themes of mental health, depression, and emotional depth. This movie stands out from others in the franchise due to its relatable, damaged characters and their compelling storylines.
Florence Pugh shines as Yelena Belova, the new Black Widow, showcasing her star power and chemistry with the Thunderbolts team. Her emotional backstory adds depth to her character, making her one of the standout performances.
Sebastian Stan returns as Bucky Barnes, now the team leader, delivering great action scenes. John Walker and Ghost, portrayed by Wyatt Russell and Hannah John-Kamen, respectively, have more to do in this film, with emotional backstories that make them likable additions to the team.
David Harbour steals the show as Red Guardian, providing humor and dad jokes throughout the movie. Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Valentina, a corrupt politician and villain, who adds depth to the story with her cunning and sarcastic insults.
Lewis Pullman's portrayal of Bob, a character with multiple personality disorder, is captivating and relatable, making him one of the most interesting characters in the film.
The third act of the movie is different but effective, though it may not be for everyone. My only major issue with the film was that some characters felt underdeveloped. I am giving “Thunderbolt*” a 4/5 stars.
