Totally Killer

Synopsis:

Thirty-five years after the shocking murders of three teens, an infamous killer returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. When 17-year-old Jamie comes face-to-face with the masked maniac, she accidentally time-travels back to 1987. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar culture, Jamie teams up with her teenage mother to take down the psycho once and for all.

Movie Review:

“Totally Killer” is directed by Nahnatchka Khan, and it is the new horror comedy that is like “Back to the Future” meets “Scream” with bloody kills and a funny sense of spoofing the 80s and present day. Kiernan Shipka plays Jamie a normal 17-year-old that doesn’t respect her mother Pam (Julie Bowen) and she delivers funny sarcastic humor that makes her a likable main character who is the heart of the movie. When Jamie travels back in time to 1987 she meets her own mother, but she is only 17 years old. Oliva Holt plays the mother as a teenager of the 80s who is raciest and mean. However, Keirnan Shipka and Olivia Holt’s connection was the strongest part of the movie. The best comedic moments do come when they compare how sensitive the current generation is to the teenagers of the 80s. There were some amazing bloody kills that were creative, scary, and entertaining to watch. Many of the cast that play Pam’s teenage friends are wasted and just there to get killed. The only big issues that I had with this movie was the Sweet Sixteen killer reveal -- it was disappointing and made no sense. Also, the ending reminded me of the ending in “Back to the Future” which seemed lazy. This was still an entertaining horror comedy that has heart, laughs and scary kills. I am giving “Totally Killer” a 4/5 stars.
