Movie Review:

“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is a reboot/prequel directed by Steven Caple Jr. and it is the 7th movie in the franchise. This also has some of the best human characters of the series that are likable, well written and well-acted. Anthony Ramos plays Noah Diaz a former soldier who can’t get a job. With a tragic back story and a sick brother, his character is relatable, likeable, and full of humor. Dominique Fishback plays Elena a smart, young intern that works at a museum who finds out secrets about the Animal transformers called the Maximals. She has great chemistry with Anthony Ramos which made the human characters interesting for once in a transformers movie. Pete Davidson steals the show as the Autobot known as Mirage; he is hilarious, but he also had some surprising emotional scenes that made his character standout among the other Autobots. Ron Perlman plays Optimus Primal the leader of the Maximals a big robot Gorilla who has some crowd-pleasing action scenes. This movie does have an all-star cast to play the Maximals like Michelle Yeoh and Cristo Fernandez, but they were wasted and didn’t have much to do. Peter Dinklage plays the lethal villain Scourge, and he is powerful and unstoppable. The visual effects are outstanding, and the action scenes are the best in the franchise yet. However, the third act was the weakest part of the movie with nonstop action scenes that felt repetitive of past “Transformers” films. But I enjoyed this movie, and, in my opinion, it is one of the best “Transformers” movies in the franchise. I am giving “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts a 3.4/5 stars.
