Turning Red

Synopsis: Mei Lee is a 13-year-old girl who is torn between being her mother's obedient daughter and the chaos of her youth. As if that were not enough, when she gets too excited, she turns into a big red panda.

Movie Review:

“Turing Red” Is the 25th Pixar animated film that has a great message about accepting who you are and growing up. The execution of the story was a bit of a mix bag making this one of the weakest Pixar movies I have seen. Rosalie Chiang voices the character Mei Lee, an outspoken, smart, obedient 13-year-old who transforms into a red panda. I found her character to be more annoying than charming at times, but I did enjoy watching her hide her transformation throughout the movie. And she did have great chemistry with her friends Priya and Miriam. Their friendship is the heart of the movie. I loved Sandra Oh who voiced the mother, Ming Lee. She steals the whole movie as the over protected mother. As much I enjoyed the funny humor, this film goes too far on the adult humor for a kid’s movie. And the main story about the teenagers going to a boy band concert lacked an interesting captivating plot. The movie does do a great job of making you feel good at the end. I am giving ‘’Turning Red” a 3.5/5

stars.
