Unhinged

Synopsis: After a confrontation with an unstable man at an intersection, a woman becomes the target of his rage.

Movie Review:

“Unhinged” was directed by Derrick Borte and is a non-stop thriller with two very good performances by its two leads. Caren Pistorius plays the lead Rachel and she is great in the movie. You instantly relate and care for her because she is thrown into this situation that everyone worries about on the road – road range. After having a bad day, she honks at the wrong person and her life changes forever. The ‘man’ is played by one of my favorite actors Russell Crowe who is a mentally unstable man, but his performance was a little over the top and becomes ridiculous and funny at times. The action set pieces are violent, bloody and intense to watch and I was never bored throughout this movie. My biggest issue was the tone of the film. The first two acts felt like a cat and mouse thriller with non-stop thrills, but the third act felt goofy like a “Home Alone” movie, just silly. I get what the movie was trying to say but I don’t think this is a movie that we need right now – way too much anger. I am giving “Unhinged” a 2.5 out of 5 stars.
