Voyagers

Synopsis: With the future of the human race at stake, a group of young men and women -- bred for intelligence and obedience -- embark on an expedition to colonize a distant planet. When they uncover disturbing secrets about the mission, they defy their training and begin to explore their most primitive natures. As life on the ship descends into chaos, they soon become consumed by fear, lust and an insatiable hunger for power.

Movie Review:

“Voyagers” is directed by Neil Burger it is an original new science fiction film that has a great talented cast with young actors that I like and a very cool concept that sounded interesting sadly even with a talented young cast I felt it was too predictable, with one dimensional characters who are unlikable. Also the movie tries too hard to be “Lord of flies” in space and sometimes it works but most of the times it doesn’t. Tye Sheridan who plays Christopher the main lead was the only character I thought had the most depth and personality that I could cheer for him and I actually cared about him. I also thought the Character known as Sela who is played by Lily-Rose Depp who is his love interest in the film was great they had wonderful chemistry with each other. Both of these actors very carry the movie and they are the only likable characters in the movie that are nice and relatable. I also liked Colin Farrell in the movie who plays Richard Alling the Chief Commander of the crew and the main astronaut who is teaching the kids. Colin Farrell is very good in the movie even though he has a limited screen time. There were some cool plot twist near the second and third act that was kind of interesting and cool but it kind of felt generic and predictable. Fionn Whitehead plays Jack who is the main Villain and the one responsible for every problem that happened in the movie. They made the character so unlikable he touches women sexually, he does some unthinkable actions that are despicable he is just evil. I do like the actor but he is written such way that makes him boring and one dimensional. That is mostly every character in the film are boring and are very unlikable. Until you just don’t care what happens to them. There are some cool action and suspenseful scenes that are well directed and used well it just felt I have seen them I have seen them in better movies. Voyagers is a mediocre science fiction that tries way too hard to be “Lord of Flies” I am giving “Voyagers” a 2.5 out of 5 stars.
