Wonder Woman 1984

Synopsis: Diana Prince lives quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s -- an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. Though she's come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile by curating ancient artifacts, and only performing heroic acts incognito. But soon, Diana will have to muster all of her strength, wisdom and courage as she finds herself squaring off against Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.

Movie Review:

Wonder Women 1984” was once again directed by Patty Jenkins and is the sequel to the critical, popular first film. Although not as good as the first, this sequel has heart, humor, exciting action scenes, and a great message that can inspire you. It is full of a lot of 80’s style that might turn some people off, but I liked this different approach rather than the same movie all over again. Gal Gadot returns as Diana Prince. This is her fourth time playing this character and she is incredible, and she carries the whole movie. Gadot shows the pain and heartbreak of this character effectively as she deals with isolation and death of Steve Trevor her one and only love. Even though he dies in the first film, it was interesting to see how Chris Pine returns and it made sense to the plot of the story. Chris Pine and Gal Gadot have a great romantic chemistry and their relationship is the heart of the story. The villain this time around is Maxwell Lord played by Pedro Pascal who is relatable to the audience and you understand his motives and why he was trying to be number one. Kristin Wiig plays Barbara/Cheetah who is shy, awkward and jealous of Diana. Later she becomes the Cheetah who is the second villain in the movie. Wiig has an exciting fight scene near the third act which was cool to look at but the Cheetah CGI looked bad. There was a very impressive car chase in Egypt that was intense, and it felt like a scene out of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” that might be one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I did have some problems with the movie. In the beginning of the film, there was just too much going on and very chaotic. And there were some scenes that appeared fake with some bad CGI. But that said, I still enjoyed this movie from the action, the emotional connection of Steve and Diana, and the heartfelt message “Be careful what you wish for” make this a decent sequel to the original film and one of the most disappointing movies I have seen all year . I am giving “Wonder Women 1984” a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
